Au cours du semestre d'hiver 1817-1818, à l'université de Heidelberg, Hegel prononça une série de leçons intitulées " Droit Naturel et Science de l'État " (sous-titre des Principes de la philosophie du droit publiés trois ans plus tard), dont on peut considérer à bon droit qu'elles constituent la première philosophie du droit. Ces leçons nous sont parvenues sous la forme du manuscrit d'un auditeur, Peter Wannenmann, étudiant en droit, qui rédigea une transcription fidèle et exhaustive de l'enseignement oral de (...) Hegel. Le présent ouvrage offre une traduction complète du manuscrit Wannenmann, lequel, outre les leçons de Heidelberg, donne aussi à lire les remarques de l'introduction au cours tenu à Berlin en 1818-1819. La traduction est accompagnée d'une présentation et d'un appareil critique établissant la portée philologique et philosophique du manuscrit au sein du corpus de la philosophie du droit hégélienne. Par leur ampleur insoupçonnée, les innombrables passages qui annoncent le livre et en complètent la lecture, les nombreux autres passages qui s'en écartent tout aussi significativement et renouvellent son interprétation, les leçons de Heidelberg " sur le droit naturel et la science de l'État " forment un document indispensable pour l'étude de l'évolution et du contenu de la philosophie juridique, morale, et politique de Hegel. We discuss two inconsistencies between Levelt et al.'s model and existing theory about, and data from, picture-word experiments. These inconsistencies show that the empirical support for WEAVER ++ is much weaker than Levelt et al. suggest. We close with a discussion of the proposed explanation for phonological coactivation of near synonyms of a target word.

Uchiyama et al. present a dual inheritance framework for conceptualizing how behavioural genetics and cultural evolution interact and affect heritability. We posit that to achieve a holistic and nuanced representation of the cultural environment and evolution against which genetic effects should be evaluated, it is imperative to consider the multiple geographic cultural layers impacting individuals and genetic heritability.

Drosophila melanogaster is one of the most popular and powerful model organisms that helpour understanding of mammalian (human) life processes at the molecular level. Calpains are Ca2+‐activated cytoplasmic proteases thought to play multiple roles in intracellular signal processing by limited proteolysis of target substrate proteins, thereby changing their function. The calpain superfamily consists of 14 genes in mammals, but only 4 genes in Drosophila. One may assume that the calpain system, i.e. recognizing calpain‐dependent life processes and identifying the substrates cleaved (...) while exerting their functions, would prove easier to solve in Drosophila than in mammals. Recently, major progress has been made in characterizing Drosophila Calpain A, Calpain B and Calpain C. The fourth member, Calpain D (or SOL), was analyzed earlier. At this juncture, it seems justifiable to summarize our knowledge about the Drosophila enzymes, in comparison to the ubiquitous mammalian ones, as regards structure–function relations, mode of activation by Ca2+ and other factors, inhibition, potential targeting, expression pattern in vivo, etc. Equipped with all this information, we may now embark on the genetic modification of family members, interpreting mutant phenotypes in terms of the cell biology of calpains. Spirituality is a growing research theme, especially in relation to health issues. The term is often poorly defined and one’s understanding is often so broad that it becomes a mere frame word devoid of meaning. In this study, we asked 514 adult Danes about their understanding of the word ‘spirituality’. Factor analysis of the answers resulted in six different understandings of spirituality: positive dimensions in human life and well-being; New Age ideology; an integrated part of established religious life; a vague (...) striving, opposed to religion; selfishness; and ordinary inspiration in human activities. It is concluded that a common understanding of the term spirituality does not exist, at least in a modern secular setting. Suggestion for future research is that the term spirituality is not used without an indication, notions or keywords of what is meant by the term in a specific context. (shrink)

Er ist bis heute nicht nur in den exakten Wissenschaften und der analytischen Philosophie allgegenwärtig. Er hat darüber hinaus Forschungsfelder wie Ökonomie, Architektur (Werkbund und Bauhaus), Psychologie (Gestalttheorie) oder moderner Literatur mitbestimmt. Seine Wirkung reicht von sozialen Reformbewegungen (Siedlerbewegung) bis in die Kunst der Neuen Sachlichkeit.

The meaning of optimality and economy in phylogenetics and evolutionary biology is discussed.It can be shown that the prevailing concepts of optimality and economy are equivocal as they are not based on strict theoretical positions and as they have a variable meaning in different theoretical contexts. The ideas of optimality and economy can be considered to be identical with the expectation of a relatively simple order in a particular field of study. Although there exists no way of inferring one or (...) several methods of solving scientific problems from the presupposed idea of economy and optimality, a lack of motivation for scientific investigations would result if the concepts of economy and optimality in nature were dropped. It is argued that the narrow concept of selection used since the time ofDarwin is only concerned with the relation between organism and its environment . It did not include the organism itself, which was the object of the pre-phylogenetic idealistic morphology. An adequate understanding of the mechanism of evolution dispenses with the concept of morphology as the basis of phylogeny.Es wird aufgezeigt, da\ der aufDarwin selbst zurückgehende eingeengte Gebrauch des Selektionskonzeptes auf die Beziehung zwischen Organismus und Umwelt die biologische (...) Konstruktion der vorphylogenetischen idealistischen Morphologie überlassen hat. Ein zutreffendes VerstÄndnis des Evolutionsmechanismus begreift aber die biologische Apparatur ein, entzieht der Morphologie, soweit sie sich als Vorbedingung phylogenetischen Arbeitens versteht, den Boden. Le but de cet article est de confronter trois acceptions du terme Gestalt , concept et entité qui a joué en Europe un rôle considérable dans l’émergence de la phénoménologie et de la psychologie descriptive entre 1890 et 1930, avant que les représentants de l’école berlinoise n’émigrent aux États-Unis. On confronte ici le sens donné à l’appréhension de la Gestalt , d’abord chez E. Mach, puis chez le fondateur de ce courant de pensée, C. von Ehrenfels, et enfin chez Meinong, (...) dont Ehrenfels a été l’élève. Le problème central de la relation de complexité et de son « fondement » ontologique dans le domaine particulier de l’ écoute musicale est abordé par ces trois auteurs. On explique pourquoi leurs divergences ont ensuite conduit à remplacer, par une conception psycho-génétique , ce qui se présentait à l’origine comme une espèce nouvelle de relation que la « forme » entretient à l’égard de ses éléments constitutifs, sans jamais dépendre d’eux par une explication causale.The aim of this article is to contrast three readings of the term Gestalt , a concept and an entity which has had a considerable role in the emergence of phenomenology and descriptive psychology, between 1890 and 1930, before the members of the Berlin school go to the U.S.A. We contrast the sense given to the apprehension of the Gestalt by Ernst Mach with the one it takes in the works of C. von Ehrenfels, the founder of this school of thought, and then with its sense in the works of Ehrenfels' master, Meinong. The central problem of the complexity relation and of its ontological “foundation” is discussed by these three thinkers, with respect to the special case of musical listening . We explain why their diverging views led to replace what at the beginning was a new kind of relation which the “form” could entertain with its constitutive elements without causally depending on them, by a psycho-genetic conception. Depuis une quinzaine d'années, on assiste à l'émergence en France d'un modèle de débat public relativement original. Son institutionnalisation progressive, par la création de la Commission nationale du débat public, correspond à la volonté d'intégrer des acteurs différents autour d'une discussion au plus près des instances d'exécution de la politique publique. Elle est révélatrice d'une tension entre deux modes de conception de la communication en politique, l'une délibérative et l'autre instrumentale. Ainsi, bien que la création de la CNDP corresponde incontestablement (...) à un élargissement de la palette des modalités d'expression démocratique et contribue à la diffusion d'une « culture du débat » en France, il reste que son ancrage dans le processus décisionnel reste problématique et encore contesté par de nombreux élus.Past fifteen years have seen the emergence in France of a model of public debate relatively original. Its progressive institutionalization by creating the National Commission for public debate is the desire to integrate different actors around a closer discussion of the enforcement of public policy. It reveals a tension between two modes of communication design in politics, one deliberative and the other instrumental. Thus, although the creation of the CNDP undoubtedly corresponds to a broadening of the range of conditions for democratic expression and contributes to the spread of a "culture of debate" in France, the fact remains that its anchoring in the decision-making process remains problematic and still contested by many elected officials.
